File Upload Issues
Uploads that fail, files you cannot find, and attachments that never arrive.
Overview
File problems are usually size or scope. Clientish caps individual files at 1 MB, and a file uploaded in one place does not automatically appear everywhere.
Common Symptoms
Upload fails outright
Likely cause: The file exceeds the 1 MB per-file limit.
Fix: Compress the file, or share large assets by link — Google Drive integration helps here.
File type rejected
Likely cause: The File Upload field has accepted types configured.
Fix: Widen the accepted types on that field, or ask the client to convert.
Cannot find a client’s upload
Likely cause: It is filed under the order or ticket it came in on.
Fix: Use the File Library and filter by type — Order Forms narrows hundreds of files instantly.
Attachment missing from a ticket reply
Likely cause: It was uploaded but the reply was not sent.
Fix: Check the reply actually posted; drafts do not carry attachments.
Team member cannot manage files on a work item
Likely cause: Manage work files is a separate permission.
Fix: Enable it on their remote or team role.
Project data files cannot be downloaded
Likely cause: View or manage project data permission is off.
Fix: Enable manage order project data on the role.
Tips & Best Practices
Tell clients the 1 MB limit up front on any form with an upload field. It saves the round trip where they try three times and then email you.
