Create and Edit an Invoice
Bill a client with items, discount, tax and a partial upfront payment, and edit it later.
Bill a client for any work, from your services or a line you type, and change the invoice later if you need to.
Overview
This guide goes through the Create invoice page and the Edit invoice page.
Who Can Access
Team members need Create Invoices to create and Edit Invoices to edit.
Create an Invoice
Open the form
Go to Invoices and click Create Invoice. You can also create one from an order.
Choose the client and dates
Under Invoice Details, pick the client in Select Client. The Due Date starts a week from today. Currency starts on your workspace currency; pick another and the prices are converted with the multiplier in Payment Settings.

Add the items
Under Invoice Items, pick a service or type your own item, add a description, the Qty and the Price. The service’s price is filled in and you can change it. Add Invoice Item adds a line. Recurring services aren’t listed: bill them with a subscription.

Enter a Discount and Tax as percentages. The tax starts from your active tax rule for the client’s country.
Choose the options
Write your terms under Payment terms and notes. Tick Send email notification to email the invoice when you save. Tick Allow partial upfront payment and enter the amount if the client should pay part now; the rest becomes a new invoice once they pay.
Save
Click Save Invoice, or Save & View to open it. The page shows Draft while you work, but the invoice is saved as Unpaid straight away and your client can see it in their portal.
Edit an Invoice
Click Edit on the invoice. You can change the Invoice Status, the client, the due date, the items, the discount, tax and the options; the number and currency stay as they are. Click Save Changes. Changing the status to Paid or Refund does the same as the Mark as Paid and Refund buttons, including the email to the client.
Good to Know
- An invoice can’t come to zero.
- Your plan sets how many invoices you can create.
