Client Portal Issues

2 min read

When your clients cannot do what the portal is supposed to let them do.

Overview

Portal complaints come to you, not to Clientish, so it is worth knowing the usual causes. Most are a toggle in Payment Settings or a field hidden on the client record.

Common Symptoms

Client cannot create their own account
Likely cause: Client self-registration is disabled.
Fix: Enable Allow clients to self-register under Payment Settings, or create the account yourself.

Client cannot pay an invoice
Likely cause: The Clients may pay toggle is off, or no gateway is enabled.
Fix: Enable both — clients see only the gateways you have switched on.

Client cannot order a service
Likely cause: The service is on Draft or Archived, so it is not in the public catalog.
Fix: Set it Active.

Portal looks unbranded
Likely cause: Logos and brand colours were never configured.
Fix: Upload light and dark logos and set brand colours under Settings → General.

Client cannot see an order you completed
Likely cause: It belongs to a different client record — often a duplicate.
Fix: Merge the duplicate records so all their history sits on one account.

Deposits option missing
Likely cause: The client wallet has no deposit route because no gateway is enabled.
Fix: Enable a gateway; deposits use the same payment methods as invoices.

Client says the portal is a different company
Likely cause: They are on a Clientish-branded view because branding is not configured.
Fix: Configure branding, and switch off Show Clientish branding if your plan allows it.
