Recurring Services

Retainers and subscriptions — bill on a cycle and decide what happens each time it renews.

Overview

Setting a service to recurring turns it into a retainer: the client is billed on a repeating cycle, and you choose whether that renewal reopens the existing order, spawns a fresh one, or does nothing at all.

Billing Period

DayWeekMonthYear
Period length is set alongside the type, so “every 2 weeks” or “every 3 months” are both possible.

Recurring Action

What Clientish does when the cycle renews:

Do nothing
Bill only — no new work item
Reopen order
Put the existing order back into the pipeline
Create new order or task
Generate a fresh work item each cycle
Client requests as needed
They draw down against the retainer
Prerequisite: recurring pricing requires subscription billing to be enabled under Settings → Payment Settings.

Common Issues

Recurring option greyed out? Subscription billing isn’t switched on yet — enable it in Payment Settings first.
