Create and Send a Proposal

5 min read

Choose a client or lead, pick a template, edit sections and design, then send and track your proposal.

A proposal is a branded letter your client or lead opens from a link. It explains the work and the price, and the reader can accept and sign it, decline it, or ask you a question.

Overview

This guide takes you from a blank screen to a sent proposal: choosing the recipient, picking a template, editing sections and design, sending, and tracking what happens next.

Who Can Access

Agency AdminTeam Member

The workspace owner and co-admins can always create proposals. Team members need the Proposals permission in their role.

Prerequisites

  • The client under Clients, or the prospect under Leads
  • Workspace email (SMTP) set up under Settings → General. Proposals are sent by email, so sending fails without it.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Start a new proposal

Go to Proposals and click New Proposal. To reuse your own layouts, open Templates first.

Templates and New Proposal buttons on the Clientish Proposals page
  2. Choose who it is for

Under Send to, pick Existing client or Lead, then search by name, company or email.

The proposal is saved on that client’s profile. If they accept, the invoice and the order are created on this client, with no new account.

  3. Pick a template and fill in the basics

    • Template: a ready-made template or one of yours.
    • Valid until: the date the offer expires.
    • Proposal title: what the client sees at the top.
    • Subject and Message: the email that carries the link. Fields like [client_name] fill in automatically.

  4. Check it, edit it, or send it

Preview as client shows exactly what the client will see. Edit before sending opens the full editor. Send proposal emails the link now.

  5. Edit sections and design (optional)

In the editor, the left column lists every section. Drag to reorder, and use the eye icon to show or hide a section. Under Proposal settings, pick one of 11 design styles. The style changes only the look; your text, sections and prices stay the same.

Click Save when you’re done, then Send.

  6. Track the proposal

Each proposal has its own page. The banner shows its status (Draft, Sent, Viewed, Accepted, Declined or Expired), and Activity lists every step. From here you can download a PDF, View as client, Duplicate, Edit or Send.

What Happens When the Client Accepts

The client signs inside the proposal. Clientish then creates the invoice and the order on that client for you. If the proposal went to a lead, the lead becomes a client at the same time.

Tips & Best Practices

i

Send a test first. In a template, use Send test to me to see the email and the letter the way your client will.

i

Write shared sections once. About us, How we work, Team, Results and Terms can be written once in Proposal settings and reused in every template.

Common Issues

!

“The email did not go out”: your workspace email (SMTP) isn’t set up. Add it under Settings → General, then click Send again.
