User Roles & Permissions
Control what each person can see and do. Roles decide which modules appear in the sidebar and which actions are available inside them.
Overview
Clientish keeps two independent role systems — one for in-house team members and one for remote members. Each role is a set of permissions you can build from scratch, clone from an existing role, or start from a ready-made preset.

Step-by-Step Guide
- Open Settings and choose Roles & Permissions, or Remote Roles for virtual members.
- Create a role — start from a preset or clone an existing one to save time.
- Tick the modules and actions the role should have.
- Assign the role when adding or editing a member.
- Adjust an individual member’s permissions if they need an exception.
- Assigning work does not grant visibility — a member still sees only what their role permits, so a designer can hold a task without seeing the client record or the price.
Tips & Best Practices
Test every new role by signing in as a member who holds it — the quickest way to confirm the right things are hidden.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I hide sensitive fields like order amounts?⌄
Yes — certain fields, such as order amounts and client contact details, can be hidden from specific roles.
Can access be limited to one department?⌄
Yes — you can layer a department filter on top of a role so members only see records belonging to their department.
